Progress as of(Aug 5th)


Hello there!

So, here's a devlog broken down similarly to how I break down my Nix Day devlogs;


General Art;

-Still debating on which logo to go with. I favor the one below more but with the top version's color. So I'll be combining them in some way.

-Some backgrounds are drafted. I know what all of them will be, its just the act of getting them done lol A few will be lightly animated

-Also need to start on official character sheets. These I hope to complete in the middle of most things being wrapped up(maybe earlier or later, it all depends)

-Started some promo art. Haven't been working on it as much as I should have been lately though;


-Sprites were done, but as I mentioned before I started doing a few of them over to make them more dynamic. I originally made them a certain way for ease of completion(due to originally entering the game jam). But now that I gave myself more time, I'll be reworking a few poses. 

Each sprite has a 'costume change' kinda lol. Like with Cecilia wearing her glasses and headphones sometimes. Times where Zachary is wearing his apron, Dominic his jacket ect. Not to mention each one blinks. 

Here are a few of how they used to look(using Cecilia, Jelani and Dominic as reference);

Cece(without her glasses) and a few of her expressions cycling:


Dominic(childhood friend of Cecilia) with his jacket. His sprites will be redone a little.


Jelani(personal trainer)


Affection points animation added to Jelani for testing awhile back. Looking over this again, I may change the animation a little. At least the way the hearts appear and not the hearts themselves.


-I need finish the chapter inserts(i.e once a new chapter starts, this insert will show). I already know how these will look, Just need to get back to it 

-Started working on some of the food artwork, which will be seen more in Zachary's(cafe owner) route. 

Here are some strawberry danishes(Cece's favorite snack). One is from Zachary's cafe, while the other is a store-bought cheap brand Cecilia buys in bulk. 


Programming;

-You're able to change Cecilia, Cisco(her bunny) and Cecilia's business name or you can default to the canon names for each.

-Each ending(good and bad) for all the LI's has their coding framework done. SO I'm able to play through the game to reach each ending

without a problem.

I do want to add additional endings on top of those and will continue working at that.

-On a similar note, affection points are programmed for each flag for each LI.

Here is the affection points flag for Jelani's route being tested not too long ago;


-I need to finish programming the CG gallery. I initially had some issues where some of the test CG's showed up in every slot after being unlocked. I fixed some of them, but I need to replicate each section for each guy and background, item ect.

-I'm adding in a 'dictionary' section. Certain words pop up, get defined in a little window and the player can go back to them later ect.

Thinking of adding a similar thing for each character. However, I may combine the two ideas so that when a character is introduced their name shows up as a dictionary term as well with their photo.

Op Animation;

-Debating on creating an op animation. I have a somewhat static op planned though. 

 

GUI;

- Textbox is done,  choice box as too.  I will also be switching out more of the main menu layouts.

-CG gallery layout needs to be fleshed out a little more

-I like how the font is now, so that stays. I'll be changing the colors around every so often though to match the color scheme I have going on better.

-I was also contemplating changing the way Cece, Cisco and her business input name box at the beginning of the game looks.

I want to place the box higher up like I originally thought to have it, so I'll be changing that.

-Another thing I've been stuck on doing was having Cecilia's sprite show up on the side. Above it looks fine, but I'll have to shrink her to fit the textbox and I'm not sure if that will look okay. Her sprites will appear when someone else is speaking to her either way. But I wondered if I should go the side sprite route or have it be pov through her eyes without the side textbox. 

Music;

-Some drafting here. I have a theme planned for each LI and Cecilia I'm working on still.

Also will be creating some other background music not related to them.

Final Thoughts;

By the next devlog I want to finish;

-Adding the CTC button

-Finishing the logo

-Finishing a character music theme

-Switching out more main menu, desktop icons ect

-Finishing at least two backgrounds

-Finishing at least two CG scenes

-More food and items art(at least two-three each)

-Finish chapter inserts for at least one route
